Cross Country On the Road for Richmond Invitational
10/1/2026 8:23:00 AM | Men's Track/Cross Country, Women's Track/Cross Country
The men's and women's cross country teams will be making their way through the DMV for the Richmond Invitational. The meet will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, with the men's 8k, followed by the women's 6k at 10 a.m. There will be 21 total teams competing, including George Mason, Duke, Campbell and many others.
The invitational marks GW's first competition in three weeks following the Navy Cantello Invitational. Both teams performed exceptionally well and produced individual event winners. Charles Mwangi captured the men's 4.9-mile race for his second victory of the season, while Hadley Mahoney earned her first win of the season in the women's 6K.
Both Mwangi and Mahoney will return to competition Friday, joined by men's captain Brayden Bayek and junior Claire Bohan. Bayek finished fifth at the Navy Cantello Invitational, while Bohan placed third in the women's 6K, finishing just behind Mahoney.
With four returning standouts leading the way, the Revolutionaries will look to build on their performances at Navy as they return to action at the Richmond Invitational.
