Carrying the Department of Athletics at George Washington to a stellar 3.40 cume GPA in the Fall '25 semester, 50% of student-athletes earned a GPA north of 3.5 in the first semester of the academic year.
18 teams achieved a mark greater than 3.0, along with 83% of all athletes, while 18 individuals earned a perfect 4.0. The recently released figures continue a run that has seen GW Athletics earn a GPA of 3.25+ in each of the last nine semesters.
Women's tennis led the way in the Fall with a 3.62 team mark, followed narrowly by lacrosse at 3.61. Softball (3.55), men's cross country/track (3.51) and gymnastics (3.51) rounded out the Top 5, with women's soccer and golf just on the other side of the top quartile by decimal points.
Achievements in the classroom are supported by an administration that prioritizes academic performance, coaches and staff that mandate class attendance and participation, and an educational support services team led by Assistant Athletics Director James Hellekjaer, with Natalie Ellard, Stephen McNamara and Bryn Boznanski alongside.
