
Women’s Soccer Dropped at Binghamton

VESTAL, N.Y. – The George Washington women's soccer team suffered its first defeat of 2025, dropping a 4-1 contest to Binghamton on Sunday afternoon. The loss moves GW to 1-1-2 on the season ahead of Thursday's home opener.

GW returns to action on Thursday, welcoming fans to The Vern for the first time this season as GW takes on Howard. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. against the Bison and opens a stretch of four home matches over the next two weeks. GW's calendar also includes a youth day match with Towson on Sept. 7, partnering with Go Play DC to bring awareness to their Youth Sports for All program.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 13th Minute: Paige Luke scored the match's first goal off an assist from Megan Baker and Anna Buckwalter, putting the Bearcats ahead for good.
- 25th Minute: Binghamton doubled its lead midway through the first half via a score from Jahkaya Davis. Luke picked up her third point of the day with an assist.
- 30th Minute: Luke continued her stellar day with her second goal five minutes later, coming off an assist from Davis.
- 74th Minute: The Bearcats took their largest lead of the afternoon just past the midway point of the second half when Davis tallied her second goal and fifth point of the afternoon. Assisting on the score were Alexus Worrell and Sofia Miller.
- 76th Minute: Jessica Robbert put GW on the scoreboard, capitalizing on a penalty kick for her first collegiate goal.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Binghamton finished the day with a 15-6 lead in shots and a 12-3 edge in shots on goal.
- Kate Silverstein played the entire 90 minutes for GW, tallying a career-high seven saves in the match.
- Both teams tallied four corner kicks apiece, while Binghamton was whistled for eight fouls, compared to six for the Revolutionaries.
- Robbert led GW's offense with two shots on goal, including her PK goal in the second half. Amelia Booth was GW's only other player with a shot on target.
