Women’s Soccer Works Draw at Drexel

WASHINGTON – After falling behind 1-0 in the first half, the George Washington women's soccer team battled back with two quick goals after the halftime break. Unfortunately, the Revolutionaries couldn't hold on to the advantage as the Buff & Blue finished with a 2-2 draw with the Dragons.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- 13th Minute: Drexel jumped ahead early with a goal from Reese Power, her first of the season, off an assist from Makenzie McCready to open the scoring.
- 48th Minute: After a quiet first half for GW's offense, Naomi Kim got the Buff & Blue on the scoreboard early in the second stanza, slotting a right-footed shot past the Drexel keeper into the bottom left of the goal. The goal was Kim's first of her collegiate career.
- 50th Minute: It didn't take long for GW to pounce again, as Kathleen Ngulefac powered an arching shot past a diving Dragon keeper into the back of the net. Ngulefac registered her first collegiate goal after spending her rookie season with Kentucky.
- 76th Minute: Drexel's Alex Rivera tallied the equalizer late in the second half to draw the teams even. Both teams had multiple chances to recapture a late lead, but stellar work from both teams' goalies kept the score in a deadlock.
NOTEWORTHY
- GW finished with a 13-9 edge in shots for the match, including a 5-3 advantage in shots on target.
- Kate Silverstein finished with one save in net for GW in her second start of the year, while Drexel's Sammy Widnick recorded three saves.
- The Dragons tallied three corner kicks, compared to four for GW.
- Dexel's Emma Herko was the lone player to receive a card, being issued a yellow card in the 79th minute.
