WASHINGTON – The George Washington women's basketball team will make the short trip south to Richmond on Wednesday to battle the league-leading Spiders. Game time is slated for 6:00 p.m., with live coverage on ESPN+.
REYNOLDS SHINES IN PINK
Donning GW's white and pink uniforms for the first time in her career, Gabby Reynolds filled the stat sheet on Saturday in the Revolutionaries' annual Play4Kay game. The first-year poured in a game-high and career-high tying 22 points on an efficient 7-11 mark from the floor. Reynolds also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds in the contest and tied a career-high in blocks. Averaging 10.9 ppg this season and 12.1 ppg in conference play, Reynolds is making a strong case to land on the Atlantic 10's All-Rookie team at the end of the year, ranking third among all first-years in scoring this season. She's reached double-figure scoring numbers in 12 contests this season, including each of the last four games.
SUNDAY IS FOR THE SENIORS
Following Wednesday's game against Richmond, GW will host Davidson on Sunday for Senior Day. Prior to the contest, Paige Mott, Makayla Andrews, Mariona Planes Fortuny and Maxine Engel will all be honored for the academic and athletic accomplishments they've achieved in their collegiate careers. Fans wishing to attend the ceremony should plan to arrive early to the Smith Center, as the ceremony is slated to begin roughly 15 minutes prior to the game's 12:00 p.m. tip.
Sunday's game will also serve as the program's Alumni Day. GW Women's Basketball alumnae wishing to RSVP for the festivities can do so here.
SCOUTING THE SPIDERS
Entering the week with a league-leading 13-1 record in conference play, the Spiders of Richmond hold a 22-5 overall record and have rattled off 12 straight wins dating back to Jan. 2. Led by reigning A-10 Coach of the Year Aaron Roussell, the Spiders have amassed a 116-62 mark since he took over the program six years ago. Roussell holds a career record of 428-184 in 21 years of head coaching experience, with previous stops at Bucknell and D-III UChicago.
Offensively, the Spiders are guided by Rachel Ullstrom, who's putting up 16.4 ppg on 54.8% shooting from the floor. Right behind her is do-it-all forward Maggie Doogan, who puts in 16.3 points and shoots the ball at a 53.9% clip. Both Ullstrom (fourth) and Doogan (fifth) are in the top five in scoring in the A-10 this season, while Doogan ranks eighth in assists at 3.7 a game. Aside from their top two scorers, the Spiders look to Addie Budnik (10.7 ppg) and Ally Sweeney (8.6 ppg). Both shoot the ball at over 50% from the floor, and Sweeney is second on the team in assists at 3.5 a night.
