WASHINGTON – The George Washington women's basketball team looks for its third-straight win on Wednesday night, taking on Loyola Chicago in the Windy City. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
HEATING UP
Entering Wednesday's game, GW has won its past two contests, defeating Fordham on Feb. 4, and picking up a road win at St. Bonaventure on Feb. 8. The Buff & Blue are now 3-9 in conference play, moving them a half-game ahead of Loyola Chicago (3-10 in conference), who has one extra game in the loss column at this point. A win on Wednesday and losses from Saint Louis and VCU would put GW in a three-way tie with both programs for the 10th spot in the standings with five games to play until the conference tournament. The full A-10 standings can be found here.
A LOOK AHEAD
Following Wednesday's game, GW has five games remaining on the regular season slate. Included in those are three home games and two road contests. The Revolutionaries return home on Saturday, Feb. 15, for the program's annual Play4Kay game, hosting Dayton at 2:00 p.m. The Buff & Blue follow that up with a road contest at top-ranked Richmond on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
GW's penultimate home game comes on Sunday, Feb. 23, a noon contest against Davidson. On that day, GW will celebrate both Senior Day and Alumni Day. Senior Day ceremonies are expected to take place roughly 15 minutes prior to game time, with Maxine Engel, Makayla Andrews, Paige Mott and Mariona Planes Fortuny all being honored. The Buff & Blue's final home game will be on Wednesday, Feb. 26, a mid-week noon contest with local schools in attendance. The Revolutionaries wrap up the regular season on Saturday, March 1, with a visit to Rhode Island. Tickets to GW's remaining home games can be purchased here.
SCOUTING THE RAMBLERS
Entering the week on a five-game losing streak, Loyola Chicago sits at 11-13 overall and 3-10 in conference action. The Ramblers, led by third-year Head Coach Allison Guth, got the better of GW earlier this season, defeating the Revolutionaries, 67-63, on Jan. 5 inside the Smith Center. Since then, Loyola Chicago has won just one game, going 1-8 in that span, with its lone victory coming against Saint Louis. The Ramblers are coming off an 83-45 trouncing at the hands of Saint Joseph's on Sunday.
Offensively, the Ramblers are the lone team in the Atlantic 10 without a player averaging 10 ppg or more. Naelle Bernard leads the team in scoring at 9.8 ppg this season, shooting 38.5% from the floor. Emma Theordorsson puts in 9.0 ppg and grabs a team-best 4.5 boards a game, while Jess Finney averages 7.7 ppg.
