WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced on Tuesday that GW senior Ava Topolewski has been named the A-10 Women's Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week.
Topolewski's sixth career A-10 Performer of the Week award comes after her dominance at the Wolfpack Invitational. Swimming against Arizona, Army, Auburn, BYU, Duke, NC State and Virginia Tech, Topolewski showed to be a top-distance swimmer in the competition, winning the 1,650-yard free (16:18.61) and coming in second in the 500-yard free (4:44.89), missing first by under a second. Topolewski also made the B-final in her third individual event, the 200-yard freestyle, where she finished 13th overall (1:48.56) with a slightly faster time in prelims (1:48.41).
The three-time A-10 Champion leads the conference in each of the 200-, 500-, and 1,650-yard freestyles with her times from the Wolfpack Elite Invitational. Her 1,650-yard free was not just a season-best and conference best this year, but it is the fastest time in the country from a swimmer from a non-power school (20th overall), and it was an NCAA qualifying time, under the new standard system in place for this season.
Topolewski and the Revolutionaries stay home for their final meet of 2025, when they will host William & Mary at the Smith Center on Dec. 20.Â
