Women’s Basketball Looks to Get Back on Track vs. Longwood

WASHINGTON – Following a narrow 62-60 defeat to Howard last Tuesday, the George Washington women's basketball team returns to action against Longwood, traveling to Farmville, Va., on Monday for a 7:00 p.m. bout on ESPN+.
REYNOLDS BREAKS THROUGH VS. THE BISON
After an aytpical start in GW's first two games this season, sophomore guard Gabby Reynolds broke through for a game-high 15 points in GW's matchup with Howard last Tuesday. The Preseason Atlantic 10 All-Conference selection scored 11 of her points in the fourth quarter, going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line and 4-for-9 from the field. She was joined in double figures by fellow sophomore Jaeda Wilson, who tallied 13 points against the Bison.
Since arriving on campus in the summer of 2024, Reynolds has appeared in 33 games, making 21 starts. She's scored in double-figures 15 times in her career, 14 of which came during her rookie season, and 12 of which were tallied against A-10 opponents. Her 2024-25 season was capped off with an A-10 All-Rookie Team selection, and she was named the A-10's Rookie of the Week on Nov. 11, 2024.
BUSY WEEK AHEAD
Monday's matchup with Longwood marks the start of three games over the next six days for GW, the first of two instances the Revolutionaries will play three games in a six-day window this season. After the meeting with the Lancers, GW will travel within the District to Georgetown on Friday, then host Morgan State on Sunday. That will lead the Buff & Blue into the Thanksgiving holiday, when George Washington will face Miami (FL) and Charlotte in the Cayman Islands Classic.
SCOUTING THE LANCERS
Longwood enters Monday's matchup with a 3-1 record, defeating Bluefield on Friday night, 126-31. The Lancers are led by fourth-year head coach Erika Lang-Montgomery, who's accumulated a 42-55 overall record since taking over the program prior to the 2022-23 season. Following 9-21 records in each of her first two campaigns, Lang-Montgomery and the Lancers broke out with a 22-12 mark last season, the program's best in five years.
On the court, Longwood is led by Frances Ulysse, who's averaging 14.5 points through four games. The Lancers have five players averaging double figures, including Amor Harris at 11.0 ppg and Jesstynie Scott at 10.5 ppg. Longwood's full 2025-26 stats can be found here.
