Women’s Cross Country Places Second at A-10 Championships

Cedarville, Ohio - Senior Michael Bohlke made GW history on Saturday morning, becoming the first men's cross country runner to claim an individual Atlantic 10 title. Bohlke dominated the competition by more than 10 seconds, crossing the 8k finish line in 23:46 and earning the gold medal. The GW women fed off Bohlke's momentum to earn the runner-up slot in the team competition and placed four runners - Hadley Mahoney, Sarah Mitchell, Lola Dinneen and Claire Bohan - on the All-Conference list.
AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CHAMPIONSHIP
· Joining Bohlke in the 8k were Brayden Bayek (No. 17, 24:33), Joe Fahrney (No. 33, 24:49), Austin Brotemarkle (No. 44, 25:02), Charles Mbuthia (No. 53, 25:16), Otto Erhart (No. 61, 25:25) and Jimmy Gildea (No. 63, 25:29).
· As a team, the GW men finished in the No. 6 slot in the field of 13 scored teams.
· In the women's 6k, Mahoney led the way for the runner-up group, finishing fourth overall in 21:09, good for ninth highest on the all-time program leaderboard, and Mitchell (21:29), Dinneen (21:31) and Bohan (21:32) joined right behind at No. 10-12.
· The rest of the GW women finished as follows: Julia Shanes (No. 26, 21:50), Una Boylan (No. 31, 21:59) and Maya Van Horn (No. 35, 22:03).
· This marks the women's third runner-up finish in program history; the Buff & Blue last earned silver medals in 2023.
· GW last placed four women's runners on the All-Conference list in 2021 when it also claimed the A-10 team title.
