Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Earn First in College Brown 8k, 6k

Bethlehem, Pa. - GW cross country made a strong showing at Friday's annual Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh, as both the men's and women's programs earned the top finish in the men's College Brown 8k and the women's College Brown 6k. The Buff & Blue edged out A-10 foe Duquesne in both the men's and women's races, in addition to Rhode Island and Saint Joseph's in the women's race en route to victory.
Senior Michael Bohlke was GW's standout men's performer on Friday afternoon, cruising to a No. 2 overall finish in the 8k with a time of 24:20.8. Behind Bohlke were GW's other scored racers in Brayden Bayek with a personal-best at No. 11 (24:42.3), Austin Brotemarkle at No. 12 (24:43.7), Charles Mbuthia at No. 13 (24:47.8) and Joe Fahrney with another personal-best at No. 14 (24:47.9). The Revolutionaries earned 47 points to claim the No. 1 spot in the field of 38.
In the women's 6k, sophomore Hadley Mahoney was GW's top performer, compiling a 21:09.2 to claim fifth overall in the individual field and earn a new personal-best. Behind Mahoney were scored runners Sarah Mitchell, who claimed No. 13 overall in her first race of the season (21:22.5), Una Boylan at No. 25 (21:38.8), Julia Shanes at No. 26 (21:39.6) and Claire Bohan with a personal-best at No. 30 (21:45.6). In the 6k, GW amassed 99 points to earn the No. 1 slot.
Four women's runners also competed in the women's open 6k, with Kaitlyn Segreti (21:45.6), Shannon Hieber (22:23.6), Molly Weber (23:00.6) and Emma Friedrich (23:53.7) all making a showing for GW.
The Buff & Blue will make their final showing before the A-10 Championship at the Princeton Invitational on October 17. Meet details will be announced later via GWsports.com.
