Lewis Posts Career-High for Women’s Basketball at George Mason

FAIRFAX, Va. – Despite a strong first-half effort, the George Washington women's basketball team couldn't keep pace with the red-hot Patriots, falling, 91-50, on Saturday evening.
The Revolutionaries started the game well, outscoring George Mason 14-10 in the first quarter and 16-15 in the second to carry a 30-25 advantage into the halftime break. GW's first-half success was aided by solid shooting, as the team connected on 4-of-9 from long range and 12-for-28 overall in the first two quarters.
Out of the halftime break, George Mason's high-powered offense came alive, coupled with an up-tempo full-court press that allowed the Patriots to take control of the game. George Mason outscored the GW Revs 30-15 in the third quarter, connecting on six triples and forcing GW into eight turnovers in the process. The Patriots carried this momentum into the fourth and finished with a combined 13 three-pointers in the second half and made 15 in the game overall.
Sara Lewis was a bright spot for GW offensively, finishing with a career-high 16 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the floor. Lewis also nabbed a team-high seven rebounds and dished out two assists. Filipa Calisto chipped in nine points off GW's bench, while Paige Mott and Maxine Engel both added six apiece.
The Revolutionaries return to action on Wednesday, traveling to Amherst, Massachusetts to face UMass. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. with live coverage available on ESPN+.
