Men’s Soccer Tightly Contests A-10 Opener, Drops Match to Duquesne, 1-0

WASHINGTON - A goal in the sixth minute for the visiting Duquesne Dukes (5-1-1, 1-0-0 A-10) was enough to outlast the George Washington University men's soccer team (2-6-0, 0-1-0 A-10) in a tightly-contested A-10 opening match at the GW Soccer Field on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
6TH MINUTE: A loose ball at the top of GW's box settled on the feet of Duquesne's Maxi Hopfer, who turned towards goal and fired a curling shot into the upper right corner of the net to give the Dukes an early lead.

GW outshot Duquesne, 13-10, including 4-3 in shots on goal.

Roee Tenne led the GW Revs with four shots.

The Revolutionaries had five corners while limiting the Dukes to just one.

Three GW field players went the full 90 minutes: Mark Nakamura, Nico Medina and Colin Prendergast.

Four yellow cards were issued, two to each team. Medina (26th minute) and Alex Nicholson (73rd minute) were cautioned for GW, and Ali Nasser (62nd minute) and Hopfer (79th minute) for Duquesne.
