WASHINGTON - GW men's basketball rounded out its roster for the 2024-25 season with the addition of Swiss national Dayan Nessah, head coach Chris Caputo announced on Friday. Nessah will enroll at GW for the fall semester and join fellow international teammates Zamoku Weluche-Ume (England) and Keegan Harvey (Australia) on this year's Revolutionaries' squad.
"Dayan is one of the best young prospects in Europe," Caputo said. "He possesses great size and athletic ability with a tremendous first step. Most importantly, he has a great mentality and desire to become a great player. He will really benefit from his time playing for coach Ivan Rudez and the Swiss National team this summer."
The 6-7 forward will join the Buff & Blue after competing for the Swiss U18 National team at the FIBA U18 Eurobasket Division B in Skopje, North Macedonia from July 26 - August 4. Nessah will compete in five group stage games against Iceland, Poland, Kosovo, Hungary and Estonia starting next Friday before the knockout stage.
Nessah, originally from Geneva, Switzerland, has made a name for himself while playing in the FC Barcelona development system in Spain. He joined the organization five years ago and has grown six inches in that time after primarily training as a guard. He comes to the U.S. ranked as the #12 European prospect by Eurospects and as the top Swiss prospect in his class.
Nessah is the second freshman in this year's recruiting class, joining DMV product Ty Bevins. GW will have six scholarship newcomers on this year's squad when adding in the four transfer additions of Rafael Castro (Providence), Gerald Drumgoole Jr. (Delaware), Sean Hansen (Cornell) and Trey Moss (William & Mary).
