WASHINGTON - The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced its Scholar All-America Teams for the spring 2024 semester, naming both GW men's and women's swimming & diving to the Scholar All-America list based on their outstanding academic performance during the semester.
To qualify for this prestigious recognition, teams had to earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the spring 2024 semester. The GW women's team finished the spring 2024 semester with a cumulative 3.58 GPA, while the men's team finished with a cumulative 3.19 GPA.
"Being recognized as CSCAA Academic All-Americans is a testament to our athletes' dedication both in and out of the pool," said assistant coach Kyrylo Shvets. "We are immensely proud of their commitment to excellence in academics, reflecting our program's core values of achievement and scholarly pursuit."
Along with GW's selections as Scholar All-America Teams, the Atlantic 10 Conference was selected as a Scholar All-America Conference for both the men and women, one of just 11 conferences across all three NCAA divisions to do so.
Samantha Barany, Executive Director of the CSCAA, praised the outstanding achievements, stating, "The commitment to academic excellence shown by these teams is truly admirable. It's inspiring to see student-athletes excelling both in the pool and in their studies.
