ATHENS, Ga. - GW women's swimmer Ava DeAngelis competed in her first event at the NCAA Championships on Friday, finishing second in her heat and 33rd overall in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.94).
DeAngelis had a seed time of 59.75 (37th), which is an A-10 and program record that she swam at the conference championships in February. The junior from Duxbury, Mass., improved four positions from her seed on Friday as she was slightly slower than her A-10 record, but was under 1:00.00 for just the third time in her career.
DeAngelis will swim her final event at the 2024 NCAA Championships, the 200-yard butterfly, on Saturday. Ava Topolewski will join DeAngelis in competing on the final day of the meet as she takes on the 1,650-yard freestyle and 200-yard butterfly.
