WASHINGTON - A new month dawns for GW men's basketball as the Buff & Blue head to Philadelphia for the second time in as many weeks to seek revenge against La Salle. Tip-off from venerable Tom Gola Arena is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday with coverage available on ESPN+.
WELCOME BACK, DARREN
Darren Buchanan Jr. returned to the lineup on Tuesday after missing three of the last four games while dealing with a groin injury he suffered in the second half vs. Loyola Chicago on Feb. 10. Buchanan immediately returned to form with 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting, adding seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
The D.C. native has made a tremendous impact for the Buff & Blue in his debut season, posting 17.6 ppg and 7.4 rpg in A-10 play, ranking fifth and third, respectively, in the league. Buchanan also is second in the A-10 overall, and 51st nationally, shooting 55.5% from the field. For the season, he ranks seventh in the league in rebounding and eighth in scoring among all players.

YOUTH MOVEMENT
GW ranks third in the nation in points scored by freshmen this season, behind only Saint Francis and Kentucky, and is fourth in the country in minutes played by first-years, trailing Saint Francis, Kentucky and Army. The Revolutionaries have accrued 56 starts from first-years so far this year, far and away the most in the league (URI, 32). GW is also the only school in the A-10 to have started four different freshmen at some point this season.
GW has started at least two freshmen in all 28 games and is one of just two schools in the country to have three first-years with 600 or more minutes played this year (Saint Francis - 4). The group has produced 49.3% of GW's offense and first-years and rookies have played 48.6% of the team's minutes.

La Salle enters Saturday's game at 5-10 in league play, but has won three of its last four games with triumphs over Massachusetts, St. Bonaventure and Rhode Island, all at home. After dropping their first five league home games, the Explorers have won three straight on their home floor, averaging 79.3 ppg.
The Explorers are led by the backcourt duo of Khalil Brantley and Jhamir Brickus, who combine to score 29.1 ppg. Brantley scored 20 while Brickus added 19 in last month's matchup. Brickus (4.9 apg) and Brantley (4.3) both provide over four helpers per game and rank among the league's top five in the category. The two also rank first and second in minutes played per game, both over 35.5 minutes.
