WASHINGTON – Following a nearly two-week break from action, the George Washington women's indoor track & field team returns to action at the BU Valentine Invitational on Friday. The event has a scheduled start time of 9:00 a.m., and will be held at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.
Two weeks ago at the Mason Patriot Games, GW saw several runners finish in the top 10 of their respective events. Leading the way was Rachel Horowitz who finished second out of 34 runners with a 25.64 in the 200m. Horowitz's time was just .02 of the winning mark and headlined three top-10 finishers in the event for GW. Also running strong was Janae Russell who clocked a 27.12 for eighth, while Kamryn Holness finished with a 27.19 to round out the top 10.
Rita Mazumder finished seventh at the Mason Patriot Games out of 34 runners in the 800m, with a pace of 2:21.29. Sarah Mitchell and Lola Dinneen both enjoyed success in the 1000m, with Mitchell placing eighth (3:05.49) and Dinneen clocking 10th (3:06.43).
Only five runners will compete for GW at the BU Valentine Invitational, headlined by Horowitz who will take part in two events. Horowitz will see action in the 200m and the 400m, while Mitchell and Dinneen will take part in the mile. Rounding out GW's list of competitors are Olivia Syftestad and Una Boylan who will both race in the 3000m.
