Swimming and Diving Completes Record-Breaking First Day at A-10 Championships

Revolutionaries smash four conference records on day one
HAMPTON, Va. - It didn't take long for the Revolutionaries to make their presence felt at the 2024 Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships, as GW broke four A-10 records, five program records and won all four relays on day one. The Buff & Blue return for day two of the Atlantic 10 Championships tomorrow, with prelims starting at 10 a.m. and finals at 6:30 p.m., all of which will be carried live on ESPN+.
DAY 1 HIGHLIGHTS
WOMEN

GW stood atop the podium in the first race of the meet as the 200-yard medley relay broke the A-10 record and won gold (1:38.23), swam by Marlee Rickert, Ava DeAngelis, Moriah Freitas and Barbara Schaal.

The women's team went two-for-two on day one with another gold medal and A-10 record in the 800-yard freestyle relay (7:10.63), swam by Phoebe Wright, Julia Knox, Olivia Tighe and Ava Topolewski. Wright also broke the GW program record in the 200-yard freestyle as the lead-off swimmer in the race (1:46.80).
MEN

The men's 800-yard freestyle relay crushed the A-10 record by almost four seconds and won gold (6:24.92), swam by Toni Dragoja, Misha Lyubavskiy, Daniel Nagy and Connor Rodgers. Dragoja broke a second A-10 record in the race with his 1.33:35 in the lead-off 200-yard freestyle.

Karol Mlynarczyk, Preston Lin, Djurdje Matic and Ganesh Sivaramakrishnan won gold in the 200-yard medley relay (1:25.70). It was the only race of the day that GW didn't break an A-10 record, which was only missed by .01 seconds.

Ben Bradley led the way for GW in the 1-meter dive, finishing in fifth place with a personal-best and NCAA Zones qualifying score (306.20).
