WASHINGTON - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its swimming & diving weekly awards on Tuesday, naming Connor Rodgers and Olivia Paquette as the A-10 Performers of the Week and Holden Thomas as the A-10 men's Rookie of the Week.
Connor Rodgers was selected as the men's Performer of the Week after a stellar weekend at Big Al in which he scored in every event and broke an A-10 record. Rodgers' broken conference and school record came in the 200-yard IM finals, placing second after dropping nearly a full second off his prelim time to make A-10 history (1:44.49). The 200-yard IM was one of three NCAA B-cuts swam by Rodgers over the weekend, picking up his other cuts in the 400-yard IM (3:47.88) and the 200-yard butterfly (1:44.71). This is the second A-10 Performer of the Week selection for Rodgers this season.
Olivia Paquette claimed the women's Performer of the Week honor after her incredible weekend at Big Al, picking up event wins in both springboard dives and breaking a GW program record. Paquette's program record score came in the 1-meter dive finals, where topped the competition with a 288.05. The junior from Laguna Niguel, Calif., also shined in the 3-meter dive, picking up a final score of 309.80 to take first place in the event. This is Paquette's first A-10 weekly award honor of the season.Â
Holden Thomas earned his first A-10 honor of his career after a standout weekend at Princeton, scoring 20 points and appearing in the finals of two events. Thomas' highest finish of the weekend came in the 100-yard backstroke (46.96), where he placed second and moved into fifth all-time in GW history. Thomas also contributed to multiple top-eight finishing relays, helping his relay teams finish fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:19.99), seventh in the 200-yard medley relay (1:29.07) and seventh in the 400-yard freestyle (3:02.62).
The Buff & Blue's swimmers have closed the calendar on 2024, but GW's divers will compete once more before the new year, heading to the Auburn Diving Invitational, held from Dec. 18-21 in Auburn, Ala.Â
