Topolewski, Sens and Stratton Highlight A-10 Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards

WASHINGTON - The George Washington University men's and women's swimming & diving teams captured three of the four A-10 weekly awards following their quad meet vs. UNCW, Delaware and William & Mary, the conference announced on Wednesday. Junior Ava Topolewski was picked as the A-10 Women's Performer of the Week, while both Natalie Sens and Shae Stratton were selected as the Women's and Men's Rookies of the Week, respectively.
Topolewski has continued right where she left off last season, dominating the field in distance swims in the quad meet. Topolewski won the 1,000-yard free (9:57.43) and submitted the second-fastest time in the event in the NCAA this season. Topolewski also won the 500-yard free (4:52.52), submitting the fifth-fastest swim in college swimming this season. To round out her meet, she swam the last leg of the women's 400-yard freestyle relay (3:23.86), helping the team to a second-place finish, and she clocked seventh-fastest in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.46).
Sens' meet was highlighted by her second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.25) - the 10th-fastest time in the country in the event. Sens also had a fourth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (23.56), a sixth-place finish (56.00) in the 100-yard butterfly and she helped the 200-yard medley relay to a third-place finish (1:41.23).
Stratton picked up the accolade after the meet, which was highlighted by his second-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (1:47.49), where he submitted the 10th-fastest time in the NCAA this season. Stratton also picked up a seventh-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke, and helped the 400-yard freestyle 'B' relay to a sixth-place finish (3:04.33) and the 200-yard medley 'B' relay to a ninth-place finish (1:32.66).
The Revolutionaries now have nearly a month break until their next competition, which comes on Nov. 2 in a dual meet at Navy.
