WASHINGTON - Despite a furious second-half comeback attempt, the George Washington women's soccer team fell short, stumbling to UMass, 4-2, on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- 23rd Minute: UMass got on the board first, capitalizing on an own goal from GW.
- 57th Minute: The Minutewomen extended their lead to 2-0 via a score from Bella Recinos. Recinos' goal was unassisted.
- 67th Minute: After a foul in the box, GW's Isabel Kelly capitalized on a penalty kick, putting the Revolutionaries on the board and trimming the deficit to 2-1.
- 74th Minute: Seven minutes later, Kelly recorded her second goal of the day via an assist from Kelly Poole. The goal was Kelly's third of the season and knotted the score at two apiece.
- 82nd Minute: Recinos put the Minutewomen on top again, notching her seventh goal of the year and putting UMass on top for good. Morgan Bellamy picked up an assist on the play.
- 85th Minute: Emma Pedolzky put the finishing touches on the win for UMass, notching her first goal of the season.
NOTEWORTHY
- Despite being held without a shot attempt for the first 20 minutes of the match, UMass finished with a decisive 21-15 advantage in total shots on the day, including a 10-5 edge in shots on goal.
- Kate Silverstein played all 90 minutes for GW in net, notching seven saves on the day. UMass' Bella Mendoza tallied three saves on the day in her 90 minutes of work.
- The Minutewomen registered a 7-6 edge in corner kicks, while the two teams were even on fouls with eight apiece.
- Neither team was issued a card in the match.
