WASHINGTON -Â The GW volleyball team will play a three-match home stint this week, hosting DMV foe George Mason for a midweek matchup at 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening, before hosting a weekend with Saint Louis, Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. Both of this week's evening matchups will air live on ESPN+.Â
Â
WEEK REWIND
The Buff & Blue dropped the weekend series with the VCU Rams, the current No. 2 team in the A-10 standings, playing five sets on Friday evening against the Rams before dropping in straight sets on Saturday. Currently occupying the fifth-spot in the six-team projected postseason field, the Revolutionaries will now play host to two schools who trail GW by just one game in the current A-10 field.
Â
ON THE OPPONENTS
George Mason sits at 4-7 in the conference standings, tied with both Duquesne and Saint Louis. The Patriots are coming off a weekend road trip to Chicago where the Green & Gold fell to the Loyola Ramblers, the current No. 4 team in the Atlantic 10. GW will look to capitalize on their successes in the first matchup of the Revolutionary Rivalry in which the Buff & Blue defeated the Patriots in straight sets on the road in Fairfax, Va.Â
Â
The Saint Louis Billikens will play host to Loyola Chicago for a midweek matchup on Tuesday evening before heading to The District. In the first match of the series with the Ramblers, Saint Louis fell 3-1 to Loyola. The Billikens are coming off a split series with Rhode Island, falling to the Rams, 3-1, before bouncing back to claim a narrow 3-2 victory in the series finale.Â
