Men’s Soccer Dropped as Fordham Scores Twice Late, 3-1

NEW YORK - The George Washington University men's soccer team (3-10-2, 1-4-1 A-10) was defeated in its Saturday night matchup vs. Fordham (6-3-4, 3-1-2 A-10), 3-1. The Revolutionaries fell behind one goal and received a red card early in the second half, and though they were able to equalize with 10 men, Fordham scored twice in the final minutes to pick up the full three points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
49TH MINUTE: Fordham took the lead early in the second half when Lucas Hackaa scored off a set piece from just outside the box.
60TH MINUTE: Playing a man down, Will Turner dribbled through multiple Fordham defenders before sending a leading pass to Louis Crofts, who slotted his shot just past the Rams' goalkeeper.
80TH MINUTE: A penalty kick was awarded to Fordham after a player was taken down in the box. GW goalkeeper Tom Macauley made the initial save, but the rebound deflected back to the penalty taker, Daniel D'lppolito, who buried his second try.
89TH MINUTE: Hackaa added insurance late on a well-struck shot from well outside the 18-yard box.

GW played with 10 men for most of the second half after Dan Dobrin received a red card and was sent off in the 49th minute.

Crofts scored his fourth goal of the season, taking sole possession of first place in GW's season goal count.

GW was outshot, 21-8, including 10-3 in shots on goal.

Six yellow cards were handed out in total. The cards were issued to Fordham's Owen Hardy (24th minute), Benji Jones (29th minute) and D'lppoltio (61st minute), and to GW's Jared DeMott (40th minute), Louis Crofts (87th minute) and Roee Tenne (89th minute).
