WASHINGTON - Junior breaststroke and IM specialist Ava DeAngelis has been selected as the A-10 Performer of the Week following her standout swims at Yale. The award is DeAngelis' first of the year, and the fifth weekly award earned by the women's team this season.
DeAngelis was selected as the league's top performer after her 15-point outing on Saturday, when she finished all four of her events in the top four, each with competitive times. DeAngelis was GW's fastest swimmer in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard breaststroke and finished in the top two in both events, winning the 100 (1:02.12) and finishing in second in the 200 (2:17.07). DeAngelis tacked on a fourth-place finish in a competitive 200-yard IM field (2:07.17) and also helped GW to a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (1:43.97).
DeAngelis and the GW Revs return to action at the UVA Cavalier Invite on Feb 9-11, before taking on the A-10 Championships on Feb. 21-24, in Hampton, Va.
