Women’s Soccer Stumbles vs. Saint Joseph’s

WASHINGTON – The George Washington women's soccer team fell, 3-1, to Saint Joseph's on Thursday afternoon. GW's lone goal came from senior Margaret Rabbitt who perfectly placed a bicycle kick past the goalkeeper for her first score of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- 5th Minute: The Hawks found the scoreboard early in the match courtesy of Juliette Muro who tallied her first goal of the season. Assisting on the play was Sam Dumont.
- 39th Minute: Saint Joseph's doubled its lead late in the first half when Emily Hanrahan tallied her first goal of the year. Hanrahan's goal was assisted by Nicole Everard.
- 70th Minute: The Hawks tallied their final goal of the afternoon midway through the second half when Natalee Vicari also registered her first goal of the year. Vicari's goal was assisted by Muro and Everard.
- 83rd Minute: GW avoided the shutout late in the second half off of Rabbitt's miraculous bicycle kick. Junior Amelia Booth crossed the ball into Rabbitt where she picked the ball out of the air and put it past the goalkeeper. The goal is Rabbitt's first of the season and the second of her career.
NOTEWORTHY
- Saint Joseph's finished with a 25-8 lead in shots and a 10-3 advantage in shots on goal.
- The Hawks took six corner kicks on the day, while GW was limited to three.
- There were no yellow cards issued in the match.
- Along with Rabbitt, GW's offense was fueled by first-year Alexa Meinen and redshirt first-year Alana Beasley who each tallied one shot on goal.
- Vicari paced Saint Joseph's offense with four total shots, including three shots on goal.
- Katie Cappelletti played all 90 minutes in goal for the Hawks, registering two saves on the day.
- Junior Ainsley Lumpe started in goal for GW, playing the entire first half and recording two saves. Sophomore Grace Crowe played the second half in net for the Revolutionaries, picking up four saves in 45 minutes of play.
