Women’s Soccer Plays Youngstown State to Draw

GW moves to 2-1-1 on the year after a 1-1 draw against Youngstown State on Thursday afternoon.
WASHINGTON – The George Washington women's soccer team finished in a 1-1 draw with Youngstown State in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon. Junior Caitlin Cunningham tallied GW's lone goal in the 32nd minute.

WASHINGTON – The George Washington women's soccer team finished in a 1-1 draw with Youngstown State in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon. Junior Caitlin Cunningham tallied GW's lone goal in the 32nd minute.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 13th Minute: Youngstown State's Jordan Evans tallied her first goal of the season off a floating header that snuck through the top corner of the goal. Taylor Berry and Regan LaVigna both tallied an assist on the play to put the Penguins on top early in the match.
- 32nd Minute: GW drew even in the match off a sweeping cross from junior Kelly Poole that was guided in by Cunningham. The goal was Cunningham's second the season and proved to be the final tally of the afternoon. The assist was Poole's third of the season, while first-year Rose Vigran also picked up her first collegiate assist on the play.
NOTEWORTHY
- The match marked the first meeting in history between the two programs.
- GW finished with a 22-10 edge in shots and a 10-5 advantage in shots on goal.
- The Buff & Blue also finished with a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.
- The Penguins' Brooklynn Kirkpatrick tallied nine saves in the match, while graduate student Rose Hemans recorded four saves in net for GW.
- There were no yellow cards in the match.
- The match marked GW's first draw of the season.
