WASHINGTON - The George Washignton men's water polo team is gearing up for the postseason with three games at the MAWPC Championship ahead. Hosted by Bucknell at Kinney Natatorium in Lewisburg, Pa., No. 5 GW will begin the tournament facing off against No. 4 Wagner in the quarterfinal round at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. A stream of each game will be available for purchase on CWPATV.com and tickets will be available for purchase at the door.
WAGNER UP FIRST
No. 4 GW will first go up against a familiar foe in No. 4 Wagner. The Revolutionaries and Seahawks have split decisions in recent weeks, with both games going in favor of the home side. Wagner took game one, 14-10, on Oct. 28 in Staten Island, N.Y., before the Revolutionaries recovered behind a pair of four-goal performances from Viktor Jovanovic and Leo Lueddemann and edged the Seahawks in game two, 12-10, on Nov. 4 at the Smith Center.
THE ROAD AHEAD
The winner of No. 5 GW vs. No. 4 Wager will move on to face No. 1 Fordham at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The winner of that match will play for the Championship at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, while the loser will play in the third-place game at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The loser of No. 5 GW vs. No. 4 Wagner will face the loser of No. 2 Navy vs. No. 7 Johns Hopkins at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, followed by the loser of No. 3 Bucknell vs. No. 6 Mount St. Mary's at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.
