WASHINGTON – George Washington women's basketball will look to push its record to 4-2 in Atlantic 10 play on Monday when it travels to George Mason for a Martin Luther King Jr. Day matinee. Tip-off between GW and the Patriots is scheduled for 12:07 p.m. with live coverage available nationally on CBS Sports Network.
20-POINT PROWESS PART II
Last time out against La Salle, Nya Robertson continued to dominate offensively. The first-year tallied her second straight 20-point performance and her team-leading fourth 20-point game of the season. Over the last three games, Robertson has averaged 20 points and is shooting 45 percent from beyond the arc.
Robertson is the first GW player with four 20-point games in a season since Brianna Cummings had four in the 2017-18 campaign. Robertson is also the first player with back-to-back 20-point games since Tori Hyduke did it against Delaware and Quinnipiac in the 2019-20 season.
40 IS THE MAGIC NUMBER
Entering Monday's contest, GW is shooting 40.1 percent from the field this year. The number has been a constant for GW's 2022-23 success, as the team is a perfect 7-0 when they shoot at least 40 percent from the field.
In those seven wins, the team has averaged 73.7 ppg and has outscored its opponent by more than 18 points.
SCOUTING GEORGE MASON
The Patriots will enter this matchup at 9-9 overall and 2-3 in Atlantic 10 play. In George Mason's last game, they fell 55-45 on the road at VCU. Mason has done a strong job defending their home court this season, boasting a 7-2 mark at EagleBank Arena.
Individually, Taylor Jameson will lead the way for the Patriots. The junior is averaging 13.1 ppg and leads the team with 31.6 minutes per game.
HISTORY AGAINST THE PATRIOTS
Monday will mark the 42nd meeting between George Washington and their local rivals. The Colonials own a 29-12 mark against George Mason, including an impressive 17-4 record against the Patriots since they entered the Atlantic 10.
Last season, the two sides traded wins across two meetings with each team claiming a victory at its home arena.
