Buff & Blue backline keeps its third clean sheet in as many games
WASHINGTON - GW women's soccer dueled American to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday in its first road contest of the season.
For the third straight game, GW's defense kept the opposition scoreless. Goalkeeper Ainsley Lumpe made her first career start, and stopped both Eagles' shots she faced. Following Wednesday's contest, the Buff & Blue defense has now gone 318 minutes without conceding a goal.
NOTEWORTHY:
• GW's three-game shutout streak is its longest since September of 2016. That year, GW shutout UMBC, Delaware, and No. 17 Arkansas.
• Rachel Sorkenn, Elizabeth Cruz and Aoi Kataoka each registered one shot.
• Anika Haski saw her first minutes of the season.
• GW led the way in most of the statistical categories, holding a 4-3 advantage in shots, a 3-2 advantage in shots on target and a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.
