Buff & Blue score three times in second half for first win of the year

WASHINGTON - GW men's soccer tallied three goals in the first 20 minutes of the second half to take complete control over visiting Manhattan on Sunday afternoon, ultimately earning a 4-2 triumph at the Mount Vernon Campus.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- 34th Minute: Manhattan drew first blood in the clash via a goal from Henry Hamilton outside the box.

- 38th Minute: GW immediately responded with a goal on a converted long run from Elias Norris after he was sent in from Conor Stephens.

- 46th Minute: Right out of intermission, Oscar Haynes Brown got loose behind the Jaspers back line after great assists from Alhaji Turay and Tiago Carvalho.

- 53rd Minute: GW doubled the lead thanks to a marker from Tim Neumann. After some ricochets in the box from Roee Tenne and Haynes Brown, Neumann slammed a shot from the top of the box to the right side of the net.

- 64th MInute: Tom Cooklin continued the onslaught with a rocket from the top of the box off a prime assist from Nico Krueger.

- 84th Minute: Dorian Bounab got one back from the visitors, beating Justin Grady in a 1 v 1 matchup.

NOTEWORTHY

- Haynes Brown and Cooklin have now scored in both of GW's matches this fall.

- Haynes Brown moved into sixth all-time with his 33rd career goal, one shy of fifth place.

- Cooklin has already matched his goal total from last year in just two games.

- Norris and Neumann scored the first goals of their respective careers. For Norris, the marker came in his 29th career game.

- Neumann has now tallied three points on the season, with his goal coming alongside an assist in the opener on Thursday.

- Grady made three saves in net, including a critical stop off a penalty in the 40th minute.
