Former Miami and Sacramento Kings aide joins Buff & Blue
WASHINGTON - GW men's basketball head coach Chris Caputo officially announced his first staffing hire on Monday, naming Eric Rubenstein the program's Director of Recruiting.
"Eric is one of the most passionate, bright minds in basketball," Caputo said. "His work capacity and attention to detail is really unmatched. Eric will bring great experience from his time in grassroots basketball, college basketball and the NBA."
Rubenstein comes to the Buff & Blue after serving as the senior basketball analyst at Pro Insight. In that role, he was tasked with the evaluation and analysis of basketball prospects at the high school and college levels, as well as assisting in scouting pro and international players.
Prior to Pro Insight, Rubenstein worked in the Sacramento Kings scouting office, where he was responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the department. He also assisted in the department's grassroots scouting efforts and with the organization's G League and amateur evaluation process.
"I'm extremely honored to be a part of Coach Caputo's staff here at GW," Rubenstein said. "Coach has been a tremendous mentor to me during the early part of my career, and I could not be happier for him as he has earned the opportunity to run this program. I'm truly looking forward to continuing to learn and grow under his leadership as we work to build something special here in D.C., much like we did in Coral Gables."
Rubenstein reunites with Caputo after the two worked together at Miami for three years. While earning his bachelor's degree in Sports Administration and minors in Economics and Finance from Miami, Rubenstein was a member of the program's support staff. In that role, he assisted the Hurricanes in analytics, scouting, film breakdown, recruiting coordination and player development.
Miami went to two NCAA Tournaments in Rubenstein's three seasons, enrolled three 5-star freshmen and saw four players selected in the NBA Draft.
