Colonials unable to overcome 55% shooting from Highlanders
RADFORD, Va. - GW men's basketball ran into a hot-shooting Radford team on Sunday afternoon as the host Highlanders led from wire-to-wire in an 86-76 victory.
Radford shot 55% on the afternoon, scored 46 points in the paint and got 44 points from its bench. The Highlanders used a pair of extended runs in the opening stanza to build a 10-point halftime cushion, 42-32.
GW scored eight of the first 10 points in the second half, and ultimately got back to within four, 54-50, with 12 minutes remaining. RU immediately pushed the lead back to double figures on a 9-2 run and never let the lead slip below six the rest of the way.
The Buff & Blue shot 60% in the second half and 48% for the game. James Bishop IV led the way with 26 points and five assists. Brendan Adams chipped in 15 as the nation's #2 scoring duo entering Sunday improved upon their average of 39.4 points per game.
GW also got production inside with Ricky LIndo Jr. scoring 10 points in just 11 minutes due to foul trouble. Noel Brown gave a nice lift off the bench with 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting, his first double-digit game of the season and third of his career.
GW will now take the work week off from competition before returning to action on Saturday afternoon at the Smith Center against American at 4 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
