Men's Basketball Primed for Nationally-Televised Clash with South Carolina

Colonials and Gamecocks tip-off at 9 p.m. Wednesday on CBS Sports Network
WASHINGTON - GW men's basketball is set to host its first Power 5 foes in five years as South Carolina visits the Smith Center on Wednesday night. Tip is scheduled for 9 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
MIRACLE ON 22ND STREET
MIRACLE ON 22ND STREET
GW Athletics will host its annual "Miracle on 22nd Street" Tailgate prior to Wednesday's game from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The free event will feature free food from Tonic and Domino's, performances from C-Brass and appearances from head coach Chris Caputo on WRGW's live pregame show at 7:40.
Additionally, all fans are asked to bring a new stuffed animal as part of a donation drive for Partners for Kids in Care.
ADAMS EARNS A-10 CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Brendan Adams was named A-10 Co-Player of the Week on Monday after averaging 22.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg and 2.5 apg while shooting 61% and playing 75 of 80 minutes in two games. Adams set a career high in made field goals in both games, making seven vs. UC San Diego and then 10 against UNH.Additionally, all fans are asked to bring a new stuffed animal as part of a donation drive for Partners for Kids in Care.
ADAMS EARNS A-10 CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Adams had scored 20 points in just two of his first 111 career games, but matched that total against the Tritons and Wildcats. The Baltimore native is averaging 17.7 ppg, seventh-best in the A-10 and shooting 52.9%, fifth-best in the circuit. Adams has already set or tied career-highs in points (25 vs. UNH) assists (6 vs. UMES), field goals (10 vs. UNH), 3-pointers made (4 vs. Virginia State) and minutes played (39 vs. UC San Diego).
BISHOP REACHES 1,000 POINTS
James Bishop IV scored a season-low eight points on Saturday, but crossed the 1,000-point threshold in just his 69th career game. 955 of Bishop's 1,004 points have come during his 53 games wearing the Buff & Blue, good for the eighth-best points per game average in program history at 18.0 ppg.
Bishop, who averaged 5.1 assists per game two year ago, is on that mark again with 5.0 apg this season. He's recorded at least five assists four times this season (GW is 3-1 in those games).
BLOCK PARTY
GW tied a season-best with seven rejections in Saturday's victory, matching its total from the season opener vs. Virginia State. The Colonials are the A-10's top team in regards to blocks, averaging 5.0 per game, good for 42nd nationally.
Ricky Lindo Jr. has tallied multiple blocks five times this year, ranking third in the A-10, and 33rd nationally with 2.0 per game. Hunter Dean had a season-high three swats on Saturday and is ninth in the A-10 with 1.3 per game.
OFFENSE CLICKING EARLY
GW enters Wednesday averaging 77.3 ppg, the fourth-best in the A-10 and 91st nationally. The Buff & Blue are tops in the A-10 in effective FG percentage (58.1) and FG percentage (57.9), ranking 18th and 29th nationally, respectively. The Colonials are also 10th in the country per KenPom in 2-point FG% (61.4%).

Gregory "GG" Jackson II earns top billing for the Gamecocks' as the consensus #1 recruit in the country in the Class of 2023, who reclassified over the summer to enroll at South Carolina. Jackson is the team's leading scorer (17.2 ppg) and rebounder (7.7 ppg), and has scored in double figures in every game. He is the highest-rated freshman recruit in South Carolina history and the second "five-star" in program history.
