Swimming & Diving Puts Together Strong Saturday Showing

Buff & Blue rolls past JMU and ODU
WASHINGTON – On the day that George Washington swimming & diving raised dual banners to honor its 2022 A-10 Championship winning squads, the 2022-23 team channeled the same winning pedigree to put together a successful showing in its tri-meet against Old Dominion and James Madison.
The Buff & Blue recorded top finishes in 22 of 32 events at the Charles E. Smith Center on Saturday. Individually, sophomore Moriah Freitas had a big afternoon with four top-three finishes, including first place finishes in the 400 Medley Relay, the 200 Butterfly and the 100 Butterfly.
HIGHLIGHTS:
-Freitas finished first alongside teammates Ava DeAngelis, Phoebe Wright and Barbara Schaal in the 400 Medley Relay. The foursome finished almost 10 seconds faster than the second-place finishers.
-GW's men's team also placed first and second in the 400 Medley Relay. The team of Karol Mlynarczyk, Preston Lin, Matthew Whelan and Dylan Koo finished in the top spot with a time of 3:22.81.
-Both Schaal and Wright put on a show in the 200 Backstroke on Saturday. The teammates' finishing times were separated by just 0.01 seconds, with Schaal posting a time of 2:02.74 and Wright finishing in 2:02.75.
-The GW men put together an impressive performance in the 100 and 200 Butterfly, claiming the four fastest times in both events.
-Olivia Paquette was GW's top diver on Saturday, recording a score of 262.13 on the 1-meter dive and a score of 265.35 on the 3-meter dive.
-George Washington claimed the top two spots in 12 events on Saturday and finished in the top three spots in both the 500 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly.
-Stine Omdahl Petersen finished first in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:22.65.
