Women’s Soccer Set to Host Chicago State

GW faces the Cougars at The Vern on Sunday at 1 p.m.
WASHINGTON – George Washington women's soccer will finish off its 2022 non-conference slate when it welcomes Chicago State to the Mount Vernon Campus on Sunday. Kickoff between the two sides is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. with live coverage available on ESPN+.
Additionally, GW will celebrate Women's Soccer Alumnae Day on Sunday. The festivities will begin with a pregame tailgate at The Vern beginning at 12:30.
LAST TIME OUT:
The Buff & Blue scored three second half goals, including two in the final four minutes, to down Delaware State, 3-0. Kelly Poole scored her first career goal in the victory while Rachel Sorkenn tallied her seventh goal of the campaign.
SORKENN GOAL SCORING WATCH:
As Sorkenn continues to rack up the goals this season, she also continues to climb in GW's all-time goal scoring list. Following Wednesday's contest, the River Edge, N.J. native now has 20 career goals in the Buff & Blue and sits in sole possession of ninth place on GW's all-time goal scoring list.
Entering Sunday, Sorkenn is just one goal away from tying GW Hall of Famer and current Director of Athletics Tanya Vogel for eighth on the all-time list.
SCOUTING CHICAGO STATE:
Sunday will be the first-ever meeting between GW and Chicago State, and the Cougars enter the matchup with a 3-11-1 record. So far this season, Chicago State has struggled keeping opponents off the scoresheet, having allowed 32 goals on the year while giving up over two goals per game.
