Women's Basketball Unveils Non-Conference Slate

McCombs' first season features four Power 5 foes, trip to Puerto Rico
WASHINGTON - The Caroline McCombs' era of GW women's basketball now has an official start date as the program announced its 2021-22 non-conference schedule on Tuesday.
McCombs will guide her Colonials for the first time on Tuesday, Nov. 9 vs. American in the team's home opener at the Charles E. Smith Center. The Buff & Blue faithful will have eight opportunities in the non-conference to catch the team in action, including premier matchups against ACC foes Virginia Tech (Nov. 11) and Virginia (Dec. 5).
Following the season-opening two-game homestand, GW will hit the road for two games at Minnesota (Nov. 14) and Old Dominion (Nov. 18) to wrap up the respective home-and-home series. The Buff & Blue put together one of their more dominant displays last season in an 18-point thrashing of ODU.
Quinnipiac visits D.C. on Monday, Nov. 22 for the return of a home-and-home before GW heads to San Juan, Puerto Rico for the San Juan Shootout over Thanksgiving weekend. The Colonials will play a pair of games in San Juan, opening the competition on Friday, Nov. 26 against UT Martin before battling Florida on Saturday, Nov. 27. GW has never faced the Skyhawks, while the Buff & Blue will take on the Gators for the first time since 2003.
The Colonials will spend all of December in the District, beginning on Thursday, Dec. 2 when James Madison visits. The two programs have met each of the previous three seasons. Following UVA's first trip to Foggy Bottom since 2005 on Dec. 5, GW will reignite a pair of D.C. rivalries at Georgetown (Dec. 9) and at home against Howard (Dec. 12).
After a break for exams, the Buff & Blue will round out the non-conference slate with Lehigh (Dec. 21) and West Chester (Dec. 28) making their inaugural trips to the Smith Center.
