ELON, N.C. - GW women's soccer opened its challenging non-conference slate on Thursday night at defending CAA champion Elon, falling to the Phoenix, 2-0.

• 39th Minute: Elon broke through after controlling most of the first half with a goal into the lower left corner from Molly Mahoney.
• 55th Minute: Kayla Hodges doubled the Phoenix lead with a shot into the lower right corner.

• Redshirt junior Tamaki Machi went the full 90 in net, making six saves.
• Alicia Window, Amelia Booth, Cammie Dopke and Margaret Rabbitt all earned the start in their Buff & Blue debuts.
• First-years Summer Beesley and Abby Mansoor made their collegiate debuts off the bench, giving GW six newcomers among the 15 who saw action.
• Elon held an edge in shots, 21-5, including an 8-2 cushion in those on goal. The Phoenix also earned a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
