Men's Basketball Ousted in A-10s by Mason, 73-59

It was a Revolutionary Rivalry rematch in Richmond in the second round of the Atlantic 10 Championship when 11-seed GW and 6-seed George Mason met again after playing in Fairfax last week. A rugged first-round win against Fordham yesterday had the Buff and Blue charged up to make a run, but the team ran out of gas in a season-ending 73-59 loss to the Patriots.
GW enjoyed a 25-22 halftime lead, but not unlike last week's game, didn't have the legs late. James Bishop, the conference's second-leading scorer, finished with a career-high 29 points to pace his club, but after going 40 minutes yesterday along with Jamison Battle and Ricky Lindo Jr., once the club fell behind there wasn't enough left in the tank to rally.
GDUB endured a 35-day Covid pause and numerous other challenges that the team embraced in 2020-21. Through it all Bishop and Battle emerged as Player of the Year-type performers as the sophomores registered dueling career seasons that showed immense growth in Jamion Christian's system. Bishop finished the season as the A-10's second-leading scorer, while Battle staked a claim to be the A-10's Most Improved Player with his standing as the league's second-leading scorer in conference play.
Joined by Ricky Lindo Jr. for the final seven games of the strange and abbreviated season, the trio showed the program's potential. Lindo double-doubled in four of his seven games played, and matched his career-high tying 14 rebounds from yesterday again against George Mason.
George Mason now moves on to play #3 Davidson in tomorrow's A-10 Quarterfinals.
