The Colonials face the Bobcats in third career meeting
WASHINGTON - GW women's basketball returns to the Smith Center for a date with Quinnipiac on Monday evening. Tip-off is slated for 5:00 p.m.
HISTORIC DEFENSIVE START:
Through the first four games of the 2021-22 season, GW's defense has been locking down their opponents on a historic level. Caroline McCombs' squad has limited its opponents to less than 50 points in three out of the first four contests, becoming the first GW team since 1977-78 to accomplish the feat. Additionally, GW ranks top four in the A-10 in scoring defense through the first four games of the year.
THINGS WILL BE GREAT WHEN YOU'RE DOWNTOWN:
During Thursday's win at Old Dominion, GW experienced its best three-point shooting game of the year, which played a crucial part in the 47-45 victory. The Buff & Blue made four baskets from beyond the arc, including three from Sheslanie Laureano, who hit the eventual game winner from downtown.
A GLIMPSE AT THE BOBCATS:
Quinnipiac enters the 2021-22 season as the odds on favorites in the MAAC, having been picked first with six first place votes and 115 votes in total. The Bobcats return 11 of their letterwinners from last year, including reigning MAAC player of the year Mackenzie Dewees, and unanimous preseason All-MAAC first team member Mikala Morris.
Through their first four games of the year, the Bobcats are 2-2 and their offense has been routing opponents, averaging 67 points per game. Their most recent contest was a 67-59 loss at home to top-five ranked Indiana, that saw Dewees drop 15 points and Morris chip in with a double-double of her own.
