Brown pours in 10 for first career double-digit effort
FULLERTON, Calif. - A late charge by GW men's basketball brought the Colonials within seven with less than four minutes remaining, but consecutive dunks from Cal State Fullerton ended the comeback attempt in a 74-59 setback on Tuesday night.
The Buff & Blue were within six following a James Bishop 3-pointer with 14 minutes remaining, but Fullerton scored 19 of the next 21 points, including 15 straight over the next eight minutes, before another Bishop triple ended the drought.
Trailing by as many as 23, GW found a new gear with a pressing defense and quick attack offense, going on a 16-0 run over the next three minutes to get within seven. However, the Buff & Blue would get no closer as Fullerton finished the game on an 11-3 spurt to pull out the win.
Bishop led the Colonials with a season-high 19 points on the back of five long balls. Sophomore Noel Brown secured a career-high with his first double-digit effort, finishing with 10 points and three rebounds.
E.J. Anosike was unstoppable underneath for the Titans, finishing with 28 points on 12-of-16 shooting and 11 rebounds. Fullerton shot 43.3% from the floor and finished with a +12 advantage on the glass.
GW now will return to the friendly confines of the Smith Center on Friday night, welcoming UMass Lowell for a 7 p.m. tip on NBC Sports Washington before heading to the Naples Invitational next week.
