In mid-November, Jamion Christian announced his first full recruiting class as head coach of the GW men's basketball team. The three recruits, all local DMV products, fit Christian's mold as prospects with size, versatility and playmaking abilities.
Since signing with the Colonials, incoming first-years Lincoln Ball, Tyler Brelsford and Noel Brown have all completed exceptional high school careers, and each received postseason accolades as proper send-offs to their new home in Foggy Bottom.
"Our future is bright," said Christian. "These guys fit everything we look for as we continue to strive to get back to the top of the league."
As the most dominant prep performer in Washington County, Md., Ball was named the WCAA Player of the Year and First Team All-WCAA. In his final season at Williamsport, the 6-foot-5 guard nearly averaged a double-double with 16.4 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. Ball also led the WCAA in assists per game (4.4) and was one of the fiercest defenders with 2.3 steals per night.
Coming off a MIAA A Conference title with Mount Saint Joseph, Brelsford was honored as a member of both the First Team All-MIAA and First Team All-Baltimore Catholic League. He finished his senior campaign averaging 14.6 points, 5.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game.
After a tremendous final season at Flint Hill, the 6-foot-11 Brown was selected to the All-VISAA D1 First Team and the Washington Post All-Met Team. Brown averaged 13.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game and dropped a career-best with 40 points vs. Saint James on Jan. 14. The big man from Leesburg, Va., had nine double-doubles in his final season with the Huskies.
The trio will join Sloan Seymour and Hunter Dean as the newest members of the Colonials for the 2020-21 season.
