Distance Dominates the Day in Indoor Track's Season Opener

Three school records fall on Saturday
LANDOVER, Md. - GW indoor track & field showcased its strength in distance events on Saturday afternoon, earning 11 top-10 finishes in four events to highlight the season opener at the Terrapin Invitational. Additionally, three school records fell on the opening day of competition.
Senior Suzanne Dannheim wasted no time in setting the tone for her final indoor season, winning the 3000m in a time of 9:54.21 in addition to setting a PR in the mile (4:59.84) and finishing second overall.
Dannheim's pair of top-10 finishes was a trend for the Colonial distance harriers. Junior Brittany Wilkinson picked up a pair of top-10 finishes in the 600m (4th, 1:39.86) and mile (9th, 5:14.34, PR) and juniors Margaret Coogan (3000m) and Kathryn Nohilly (mile) placed third with PRs in their respective events. Earlier in the day, Nohilly set a new school mark with her time of 2:18.62 in the 800m, finishing third overall.
On the men's side, senior Jared Nelson continued to set the standard in the 60m dash with a school record of 7.40 in the prelims, .07 off his previous best. First-year Miles Grant debuted with a flourish, setting a school record at 6.48m in the long jump.
Three Colonial rookies - Ryan Fowkes, Wesley Robinson and James Glockenmeier - finished third, fifth and seventh, respectively in the mile, while sophomore Isaiah Robyne and senior Jack Conlon went 2-3 in the 3000m.
