A-10 Championship to be held in nearby Leesburg, Va.
WASHINGTON - GW cross country head coach Terry Weir announced the men's and women's meet schedule for this fall, focusing on local meets with the postseason in mind.
"George Mason will again host the A-10 Championship this year on a very challenging course," Weir said. "To run well on it, you have to be very fit, and I think our schedule will have us prepared for the challenge come November."
The Colonials will open their campaign in customary fashion, traveling to the Mount St. Mary's Duals in Emmittsburg, Md. on Aug. 30.
Two weeks later, GW will take part in the George Mason Invitational on Sept. 13 in Leesburg, Va. The event will serve as a scouting opportunity for the A-10 Championship, which will be held at the same course on Nov. 2.
The Buff & Blue will compete in two meets in October, traveling to Lehigh for the Paul Short Run (Oct. 5) before heading to the Princeton Invitational (Oct. 19).
Following the Atlantic 10 Championship, the Mid-Atlantic Regional will be held at Lehigh on Nov. 15 with the NCAA Championship hosted by Indiana State on Nov. 23.
The women's team, headlined by rising senior and All-Conference honoree Suzanne Dannheim, will be looking to best its highest regional finish in program history last year when it placed 14th. All-Conference performer Jackson Cronin, a rising junior, is the top returner on the men's squad.
