Lacrosse Travels to Saint Joseph’s on Friday

Colonials to face VCU at home on Sunday
OPENING DRAW: After back-to-back Atlantic 10 matchups on its home turf, the George Washington lacrosse team will head back out on the road on Friday to take on Saint Joseph's at 4:30 p.m. before returning to the GW Lacrosse Field on the Mount Vernon Campus to host VCU on Sunday at 1 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: The Colonials (4-8, 2-2) went 1-1 last weekend, dropping St. Bonaventure, 16-5, on Friday before falling to the reigning Atlantic 10 champion Richmond Spiders on Sunday, 15-10. Despite going neck-and-neck with the visitors through the first 15 minutes of play, the Spiders were able to pull away with five straight goals at the end of the first half to gain and hold onto the lead and finish the day with a 15-10 victory.
reLAXin' AT THE VERN: Sunday's game will feature a cookout with games and free food for the first 250 fans in attendance.
SPREADING THE WEALTH: A season-high 11 Colonials found the back of the net in Friday's outing against the Bonnies. First-year Tori Hampton led the way with a hat trick, the fourth time she has scored three or more goals in one game this season.
FIRST THINGS FIRST: GW's matchup against St. Bonaventure was a day of firsts, with five Colonials making their 2019 Buff and Blue debuts. Out of those five Colonials, three found the back of the net for the first time in their career: Brooke Caruso (1g), Kendall Lambert (2g), and Cora Broadhurst (1g).
HELPING HAND: Junior Morgan McDonnell paces the squad with a career-high 14 assists. The attacker picked up five this weekend, four of which came against Richmond to mark a new single-game high.
ABOUT SAINT JOSEPH'S: The Hawks (7-5, 3-1) opened A-10 action on a three-match win streak, with victories over St. Bonaventure (17-4), Duquesne (21-6), and VCU (17-13), before falling to UMass (11-8) on Sunday. Francesca Donato leads the team with 56 points on 25 goals and 31 assists, while keeper Corinne Buttner paces the squad between the posts with her 71 saves and 9.46 GAA.
ABOUT VCU: The Rams (4-7) will look to snap their three-game losing streak on Friday when they face Richmond. VCU kicked off A-10 play with a 21-16 victory over Duquesne before falling to UMass (22-14), Saint Joseph's (17-13), and La Salle (12-6).
ROAD AHEAD: The Colonials will wrap up their home slate with a bout against Duquesne on Friday, April 12 at 2 p.m. before making the short trip to Fairfax, Va., to face George Mason on Sunday, April 14 at 1 p.m.
