Colonials to continue racing at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday
WASHINGTON – The George Washington men's rowing team hit the water on its home course for the first time this season to open the 31st GW Invitational on Friday afternoon.
GW's varsity eight led for the majority of its race, but caught an over-the-head crab while leading with 600 meters to go to ultimately drop to Drexel (5:45.30-5:48.50)
The second varsity eight also put up a strong fight with the closest race of the afternoon, finishing with a time of 5:53.90 to come up just .50 seconds short to Drexel.
The Colonials capped the first day of the Invite with a pair of third-place finishes in the third varsity eight (6:12.19) and fourth varsity eight (6:28.00).
The GW invitational concludes Saturday with the action set to begin at 7:30 a.m.
