All three boats advanced out of the morning heats into the Petite Finals for the second straight season. In the Varsity 8, the Colonials finished 12th. The 2nd Varsity finished in 11th place while the 3rd Varsity 8 finished 12th.
"We had a very solid day of racing," said head coach Mark Davis. "Each crew held their seed, which was great because you never want to finish lower. Overall, it was a good day of racing for the team and we are hoping this gets us qualified for the IRAs so we can keep getting faster."
Varsity 8
Heat: 4th of 5 (5:48.202)
Petite Final: 6th of 6 (6:10.506)
Final Place: 12th
Coach Davis on the V8: "The Varsity 8 was seeded 12th coming in and they had solid race in their heat, they finished fourth, which put them in the petite final, which is where we were hoping we'd end up. In their final, they ended up finishing 6th, just a half second behind Wisconsin and two and a half seconds behind Penn. So not a bad row, but I still think they have some more speed in them."
2V8
Heat: 4th of 6 (5:54.706)
Petite Final: 5th of 6 (6:19.263)
Final Place: 11th
Coach Davis on the 2V8: "Our second varsity 8 also finished fourth in their preliminary heat, which put them in the petite final as well. Similar to the V8 in their final, the 2V8 had a pretty good headwind and some gusts, so they were 5th in their final and 11th overall, which was their seed going in."
3V8
Heat: 5th of 5 (6:06.191)
Petite Final: 6th of 7 (6:11.723)
Final Place: 12th
Coach Davis on the 3V8: "Our third varsity eight finished fifth in their heat, which put them in the petite final. They finished sixth and 12th overall, which was their seed going in."
