Tournament Central
The George Washington squash program will send a total six student-athletes, four men and two women, to this weekend's College Squash Association (CSA) Individual National Championships at Brown in Providence, Rhode Island, beginning on Friday.
For the first time in program history, the Colonials will have three student-athletes represented in the A Division: senior Moudy-Abdel Maksoud and sophomores Mohammad Alterki and Zoe Foo Yuk Han. With their qualification for A Division, the trio will receive All-American recognition.
Abdel-Maksoud earns All-American honors for the second straight season after competing in A Division last year when the tournament was hosted by GW for the first time in program history. Foo Yuk Han also earns back-to-back All-American recognition after topping the field in the Holleran East bracket in 2018. For Alterki, the honor is the first of his career.
In addition, GW is the only non-Ivy league school to have multiple athletes represented in A Division.
In B Division, Salim Khan and Inaki de Larrauri will represent the Buff and Blue on the men's side while Engy Elmandouh represent GW on the women's side.
The College Squash Association also named senior co-captain Brooke Feldman and junior Juan Sebastian Laguna CSA Scholar Athletes in an announcement on Thursday morning. The pair posted a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher to receive the recognition.
