Men's Water Polo Secures Midweek MAWPC Win

Colonials claimed victory at Johns Hopkins on Thursday night
BALTIMOREÂ - GW men's water polo made the most of its Thursday road trip to Johns Hopkins, securing a 13-7 victory in Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference action at Newton White Aquatic Center.
Andras Levai tallied three goals, five assists and three steals to help the 15th-ranked Colonials improve to 14-4 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
GW erased an early deficit with a run of six straight goals to take a 7-2 lead on Gabriele Simonti's goal with 5:45 left in the second quarter.Â
After Johns Hopkins ended the opening half with back-to-back goals, the Colonials put the game out of reach by outscoring the Blue Jays 5-1 in the third. Jordan Blosser's goal with 14 seconds remaining in the period gave the Buff and Blue their largest lead at 12-5.
Levai set the pace as he has much of the fall, pushing his team-leading point total to 95. Blosser also scored three times, including the 100th goal of his career.
Simonti posted a pair of goals, while Atakan Destici notched a goal and three assists. Andrew Mavis, Nick Schroeder, Henry Maas and Chris Lee recorded scores in the victory, as well.
Matt Taylor continued a stellar run between the pipes by piling up 19 saves.
UP NEXT:Â GW will spend the weekend at the Harvard Invitational, starting with a Saturday doubleheader vs. MIT (9 a.m.) and the host Crimson (2 p.m.).
