ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The George Washington women's soccer team edged St. Bonaventure, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at Marra Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• 15th Minute – The Bonnies were able to get on the board first with a goal from Sydney Cerza. (SBU 1, GW 0)
• 76th Minute – After dominating offensively for the majority of the first half, including an 11-4 shots advantage (6-1 SOG), the Colonials were finally able to tie it up with an equalizer from Sofia Pavon. (GW 1, SBU 1)
• 80th Minute – Four minutes later, Pavon was able to net her second goal of the game and give GW the lead after taking a feed from Olivia DiCristofaro. (GW 2, SBU 1)
NOTEWORTHY
• With today's victory, the Colonials improve to 14-5-2 against the Bonnies, coming out on top in the last four meetings.
• The Colonials held an 11-4 shots advantage at the half and went on to lead 22-8 (13-3 SOG) at the conclusion of the match. GW is outshooting its opponents 175-136 this season.
• Pavon registered a game-high eight shots, seven of which were on goal, in today's match. The Chicago, Illinois native, paces the squad with 33 shots on the season.
• Maria Pareja also had a strong day on attack for the Buff and Blue and recorded four shots. The first-year sits second on the team with 26 shots in 2018.
• Anya Heijst posted her second assist of the season against the Bonnies. Olivia DiCristofaro also tallied a helper on Pavon's game-winning goal.
