Women's Water Polo Falls to No. 22 Harvard

LORETTO, Pa. - George Washington women's water polo came up short against No. 22 Harvard, 14-8, on Sunday in its weekend finale at Stokes Natatorium.
Alana Ponce, Grace Heck and Ally Jochim scored two goals apiece, but the Colonials couldn't keep up with the nationally ranked Crimson. They will enter Collegiate Water Polo Association play at 10-8 overall.
GW went back-and-forth with Harvard early on. The teams were tied at 4 after one quarter, and Heck's goal with 2:04 left in the first half pulled the Colonials within 8-6.Harvard dug in from there, seizing control with the first three scores out of the halftime break. The Colonials were outscored, 6-2, in the second half.
Jacqueline Bywater and Jaleh Moaddeli also recorded goals against the Crimson.
UP NEXT: GW has next weekend off before CWPA play officially gets underway. The Colonials will start with four conference games over two days at Harvard on April 7 and 8. They're set to face No. 9 Michigan, No. 12 Hartwick, No. 13 Indiana and Saint Francis (Pa.).
